Kien serves as the Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Urban Planning and Architecture. His fields of specialty are architecture, urban design and urban planning. He has previously served in roles for the Thuc Duc District Urban Management Division and Ho Chi Minh University of Technology. He holds degrees in Urban Design and Architecture from the Melbourne School of Design at The University of Melbourne and University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City.
