Brian Hettler

GIS & New Technologies Manager, Amazon Conservation Team @BrianHettler

Brian Hettler has been making maps with the Amazon Conservation Team for more than six years and has undertaken GIS mapping projects in Peru, Brazil, Suriname and Colombia. Brian supports ACT’s participatory mapping initiatives, helping indigenous and other forest communities create maps of their lands by facilitating social cartography workshops and accompanying mapping expeditions. When not in the field, Brian creates interactive, map-based stories designed to raise awareness of Amazonian cultures and ecosystems and the many external threats they are currently facing.
